Cafe

The café at Tebay Services gets a footfall of over 2 million people every year, often several hundred all at once, so for this reason, the most important thing about the café refurbishment was that the design had to aid customer flow through the space.

We used white Corian counters to enable the product to stand out, and almost invisible bonded glass cases were used on the counters.

A subtle-feature oven housing was designed to house an otherwise utilitarian deck oven for the purpose of baking fresh products and to deliver the fun of theatre cooking for the customers while they queue. We designed a chimney-shaped carcass around the oven, which was then tiled to match the walls.

We designed and created signage for the project, with freestanding blackboard signs stood up in oak blocks, and the ceiling was hand-painted in a funky design using the company brand colours.

The 250 cover seating area was also refurbished, and the dated play area given a new lease of life with a castle design cladding to the outside.
